Building a Website
- We will be creating and maintaining our own professional website in class, using it as a digital portfolio.
- I recommend using Weebly for your site, it is very user friendly and intuitive (and the free version works great). However, you can use other sites such as Wix, Google Sites or Squarespace if you prefer.
- We are going to be focusing on your theatrical portfolio in class, but you can feel free to include other sections as well. For instance, if you are a photographer, it would be great to have a photography page.
- NOTE: Do NOT use your school based email address when you create your website, as you will lose access to that address when you graduate. Use a personal email address.

Website Assignment 1
When you have completed steps one through five below, you can just share your website URL on Canvas for the assignment. (You can certainly go further and build more onto your site if you would like to)
Click here for a step by step tutorial on how to build your Weebly website. You do not have to use this tutorial, there are plenty of good videos and tutorials out there to help out. You also do not have to use Weebly. However, the instructions I am giving are being done through Weebly.

- Step 1: Sign up with Weebly with your email address, and you will create a password. NOTE: I recommend that you use a personal email address (not your ncmcs.net address) for this, so you don't lose anything when you graduate.
- Step 2: Select your theme. You can definitely be fun and creative with your theme, but this needs to be professional.
- Step 3: Choose your domain. Your domain should be your name, or a variation of it (including a middle initial, or a middle name, for example).
- Step 4: Design your landing page. Your 'landing page' is the homepage where people start out. It should have some basic information and pictures, but it should not be too long.
- Step 5: Add a new page. Everyone should have a 'Resume' page on their site. Click here for a good example...again, just a starting point, yours doesn't have to look just like that.
