Course Guidelines/Requirements:
- Electronics: Cell phones, music players, or other electronic devices are not to be out during instructional time. Violation of this policy will result in the device being turned in to administration for parent pickup.
- Notes on theatre history and other material will be given daily. Tests will be given at the end of each unit. At the end of the semester, a comprehensive final exam will be given.
- Food/Drinks: Food, candy, chewing gum, and drinks are not allowed inside the auditorium. Water is allowed, as long as it is in a bottle with a leak proof lid.
- Restrooms: Students should sign out when they leave, sign in when they return from the restroom, and take the hall pass with them to the restroom. Failing to do so is considered skipping.
- Performance: Each class will have an end of semester performance that will comprise the majority of your grade for the final six weeks, as well as part of your final exam grade. All students will be a part of the show. This will be a public performance, and parents are strongly encouraged to come and see what their children have been working on. There will only be one day (performance day) when the students will be required to stay after school.
- Student Directors are advanced theatre students who have undertaken the role of directing. These students will be teaching and directing the theatre I class in their end of performances.
- Extra Credit is available by going to see a theatrical production and bringing back a ticket stub or a program. Performing or working backstage of such shows also counts as extra credit. If you are unsure of whether or not something is considered a theatrical production, please ask.
- Late Work: The majority of assignments are submitted through Canvas. Assignments will be accepted late, with a 5 point deduction per day late, not going below a 50. Assignments close 2 weeks after they are due, and the grade becomes a zero. To submit work past this point, students will need to schedule a one on one meeting with the teacher, and parents may need to be contacted.
- Communication: The teacher may communicate with students through email, Remind Messaging or text message.
