Directing Application
For Student Directing for the 26-27 School Year, you first will need to select which class you are applying to student direct for. (NOTE: This is not a guarantee that directing for that class will fit into your schedule, but I will try my best to make it work)
To be considered for Student Directing 2026-27, please select which class you would like to director for, and complete that application and email it to Mr. Faw, [email protected]. Application should be submitted by Friday March 13, 2026.
To be eligible to student direct one of the performance classes (either beginning or intermediate), students should also be enrolled in the Honors Theatre Arts Performance class.
To be be eligible to student direct the beginning technical theatre class, students should also be enrolled in the Honors Theatre Arts Technical Class.

Student Directing Application for Intermediate Theatre Arts Performance (Theatre 2)
- Part One: Find five plays online that you would like to direct, that you think would work well for a theatre 2 class. Look on the ‘finding a play’ document to help you out. List name, playwright, and type a short paragraph about the play (what you like about it, why it would work well as a class show). Don’t just cut and paste from the website.

- Part Two: Find five new warm up activities that we have not done in class. These can be new physical warmups, vocals warmup, improv games, etc. There are great websites out there to help you learn new activities. http://improvencyclopedia.org is a great place to begin, but you can just Google ‘warm up activities,’ or ‘ensemble games,’ etc. Just type the name, and a short description (couple of sentences will work fine) •

Student Directing Application for Beginning Theatre Arts Performance (Theatre 1)
For this part of the application find at least 5 sources (books, short stories, etc) that you think would work well for theatre 1 to adapt into a performance. Additionally, you need to find a link/website where you can find the full text of the book/short story, and include that in your application.
- Part One: For Beginning Theatre, we are going to be working on the online showcase. In this project, the students/directors will find source material to adapt into a performance. This source material should be some sort of book or short story (no movies or tv shows). Stories that have worked well to adapt in the past include Dr. Seuss Stories, Classic Fairy Tales, Sherlock Holmes short stories, etc.
For this part of the application find at least 5 sources (books, short stories, etc) that you think would work well for theatre 1 to adapt into a performance. Student Directing Application for Beginning Theatre Arts Technical (Tech Theatre 1)
For part one of this application, come up with at least 2 unit that you would like to teach to the class. For each unit, include what materials you would need to teach it, what your instruction would look like, what the final product for the students would look like.
- Part One: For Beginning Technical Theatre, student directors for this class will develop and teach a unit to the class, based upon an area that you are comfortable teaching. Plan for this unit to last 3-4 days. We will probably be teaching this unit in rotation, so you would have anywhere between 5-12 students in your group to teach to. This can be anything technical theatre based (building, scenic painting, properties design, costume creation, sewing, publicity design, etc).
