Steps for Honors Theatre Arts Auditions
Monologue Requirement: You will present TWO audition monologues on the audition date.
When you present your monologues, you will need to slate with your name, the name of your play, and the name of the character.

Requirements for acceptance into Honors Theatre Arts
- Step 1: Self enroll in Honors Theatre Summer 2026 Canvas Course (Link will be available by auditions)
- Step 2: Join the Remind Message Group for Honors Theatre 2026-27 (join code will be available by auditions)
- Step 3: Create a theatrical resume and upload it to the Canvas course (under the assignment 'Honors Theatre Application') by the audition date.. Click here for advice on creating your resume, and for templates.
- Step 4: Create a Professional Business Letter and upload it to the Canvas course (under the assignment 'Honors Theatre Application') by the audition date. The business letter should detail your reason for applying to Honors Theatre, the strengths you bring to the ensemble, and the areas you want to improve upon. - Step 5: For your audition, memorize and perform two contrasting monologues.
Monologue Requirement: You will present TWO audition monologues on the audition date.
When you present your monologues, you will need to slate with your name, the name of your play, and the name of the character.
Requirements for the first monologue
- Between 1-2 minutes in length
- From a published play (straight play, not a musical)
- From a Contemporary play (meaning from within the past 125 years)
- Typed Copy of your contemporary monologue uploaded to Canvas
Requirements for the second monologue
- Shakespeare Monologue selected from this approved monologue list.
- Typed copy of your Shakespeare monologue uploaded to Canvas.
Requirements for acceptance into Honors Theatre Arts
- Availability for morning and afternoon rehearsals (outside of school) during the fall of 2026.
- Only open to Juniors/Seniors
- Taken and passed Theatre Arts 1 and Theatre Arts 2
- Maintaining good academic standing (grade of at least an 80) in previous/current Theatre Class
- Monologue based audition, requirements above
- Formal Business Letter and Resumé submitted as part of the audition.
- Summer Honors Meetings/Auditions: We will meet on multiple days in early August (specific dates TBA) 11am-3pm daily, to audition for our Fall 2026 NCTC Performance.
- Ability to pay or fundraise a 'fair share' to help cover the costs of NCTC Play Festival. In past years, the fair share has been around $150. Note: Please do not this stop you from taking the class, if this will be difficult for you or your family. The booster organization is able to help if needed, we just need you to let them know.
