Assignment 5a: Scenic Design Second Section: Choose one scene from the play that you will design scenery for (if your play has scene changes, you only need to design one scene, although you are welcome to do more). For the assignment, you will need:
- A paragraph or two describing your vision for the scene, including specific references from the script.
- At least 10 pictures of research for this scene, with a short description of each picture (one or two sentences will be fine). Make sure to pay attention to the time period of the play.
- Do NOT use pictures from other productions of your play, your research needs to be your own original research.

Assignment 7a: Scenic Design Third (final) Section:
For Junior Project Fall 2020, you can choose one of two options for your scenic design.
If your play has multiple scenes, you only have to choose one to design for this assignment.
Once you have finished your scenic design for your show, document it by taking at least Five pictures (or screenshots) of your set, from different perspectives. Your (at least) five images of your set design will be the documentation for this assignment.
For Junior Project Fall 2020, you can choose one of two options for your scenic design.
- Option 1: build a physical 'white model' of the your set. If you choose this option, you will be building a 3 dimensional model (a white model) out of card stock and foam board. These materials will be available for use in class. This will be a 1/2 inch scale model (1/2 inch on the model equals 1 foot in real life). We will also have scenic design templates (that will be available on Canvas/Google Classroom) that you can use for your design, should you so choose.
- Option 2: Create the final scenic design online through SketchUp. If you choose this option, you will need to learn how to use the program first. I recommend the built in tutorials that we use for technical theatre. Click here for the first tutorial, click here for the second tutorial, and click here for the third tutorial.
